Student Employment Opportunity Part-Time Student Youth Centre Supervisor September 2026 to June 2027 – schedules will vary
PUBLIC WORKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT
Reporting to the Recreation and Culture Coordinator and Recreation Programmer, the Youth Centre Lead will be responsible for supervising, planning and facilitating, activities and events at the Lookout Youth Centre.
The responsibilities of this position are as follows:
- Demonstrate superior customer service and communication skills to deal effectively and courteously with the public, participants, parents, and staff
- Ensure the safety, enjoyment, and care of participants
- Assist in the planning and facilitate various activities, workshops, birthday parties, and events (National Youth Week) for youth ages 11 to 18 years.
- Complete supply requests for activities and events
- Supervise, monitor capacities, and take admissions for activities
- Organize, take inventory, set up, take down and cleaning of program areas
- Maintain attendance records
- Assist in the evaluation and promotion of Youth Centre activities
- Assist with recreation and culture events
- Report all incidents, accidents, issues, and concerns to the Recreation and Culture Coordinator
- Complete paperwork as required
Qualifications and Skills:
- Candidates must be at least 16 years old and be enrolled in high-school, or post-secondary education
- Ability to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays as required at the Scugog Community Recreation Centre, Blackstock Recreation Complex, and schools in the Scugog area
- Possess and keep current Intermediate First Aid/CPR ‘C’
- Provide a current Criminal Information Request prior to employment start date (applicants 18 years and older)
- Experience working or volunteering with youth from 11 to 18 years of age
- Ability and knowledge of ice skating would be considered an asset
Employment start and end dates, as well as hours could vary from week to week.
