Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Parks, Recreation and Facility Services, the Tay Community Rink Attendant fulfills the operational duties of the Tay Community (refrigerated) Rink located at 560 Calvert Street, Port McNicoll. Duties include managing the daily program schedule and special events, operating equipment, and performing maintenance functions in accordance with Township policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain all equipment and machinery safely and properly at the Tay Community Rink, including buildings, ice surface, janitorial services, and other operational tasks.
  • Assist with ice making, ice maintenance, and ice resurfacing operations.
  • Help with setup, execution, and clean-up of rink functions and programs.
  • Provide attentive and quality customer service to rink users.
  • Maintain accurate written and electronic records and logs.
  • Model Township values by learning, embracing innovation, and exploring new technologies and best practices to improve administrative processes and deliver greater community benefit.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of information according to Township standards.
  • Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other applicable legislation by following the Township’s health and safety procedures and programs.
  • Perform other related tasks and functions as assigned.

Key Qualifications

  • Class ‘G’ Driver's Licence in good standing with a satisfactory driver’s abstract.
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent (or in progress).
  • Minimum age 16 years.
  • Intermediate First Aid and CPR/AED certification in good standing prior to start of employment.
  • Experience with refrigerated ice rinks, parks, recreation, facilities or related services is an asset.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain auditory, mental, and visual concentration to ensure safety.
  • Ability to work independently in a safe, effective, and efficient manner, safely operating various equipment (e.g., Olympia).
  • Strong oral communication and organizational skills with problem-solving ability.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check as provided by Ontario Provincial Police.
