Position Purpose

Reporting to the Parks Supervisor, the Parks Labourer is responsible for performing a variety of operations and maintenance duties related to the Town’s parks system, including sidewalks, parking lots, fleet maintenance, park tree maintenance, and recycling and solid waste collection. Successful candidates will initially support the Town’s tree inventory program through field-based inventory work, data collection, and related parks maintenance activities. Effective November 15, 2026, these positions will transition to weekend Winter Patrol duties, which include parks maintenance patrols, winter maintenance of parking lots and walkways, and the operation of snowplow, salter, and sander vehicles to support snow and ice control operations.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum of Grade 12 diploma.
• Valid Class G Driver’s license in good standing; a DZ license is considered an asset.
• Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in municipal parks, forestry or outdoor maintenance experience.
• Experience with tree inventory, field data collection, parks maintenance or forestry operations is an asset.
• Experience operating snowplow and salter/sander trucks is an asset.
• Basic computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Excellent customer service, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Effective organization skills: ability to prioritize and meet deadlines regularly.
• Able to work assigned shifts (winter patrol, day, afternoon/evening shifts) on a rotational basis.
• Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team during the tree inventory period and weekend patrol shifts beginning November 16, 2026.
