Parks 3 Maintenance

Position Details

Reporting to the Supervisor, Parks Maintenance, the Parks 3 Maintenance position is responsible for the care and general maintenance of park infrastructure throughout the City of Brantford. Duties are varied and include (but are not limited to) building/landscape repairs, park related carpentry, washroom maintenance, winter maintenance, site preparation, clean-up and assistance related to special events and seasonal decoration installation, vandalism response, garbage collection and other tasks as assigned. The successful incumbent is will be responsible for inspecting and documenting parks assets including but not limited to Playground Infrastructure and Backflow Prevention Devices.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
• Minimum of three (3) years' demonstrated experience related to the duties listed above, general carpentry work, park/building maintenance and park construction/landscaping work
• Must be able to obtain a Certified Playground Inspector certification within 6 months
• Must be able to obtain Cross Connection Specialist license within 1 year
• Confined Space Training would be considered an asset.
• Understanding of the safe operation, set up and maintenance of tools and equipment related to a large scale woodworking shop operation(s)
• Mechanically inclined and competent operating a variety of power/ hand tools, machinery and larger equipment such as backhoes, skid steers, tractors and utility vehicles
• Physically fit and able to complete labour intensive work, including heavy lifting
• Excellent customer service/communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions to complete duties to a high level of quality with minimal supervision
• Organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and document daily activities as required
• Working knowledge of a variety of computer applications
• Ability to contribute to a positive team environment
• Demonstrated ability to perform work safely in accordance with all related policies/procedures and Occupational Health & Safety Act regulations
• A valid "G" Ontario driver's license in good standing
• A current Police Clearance Certificate (dated within the last three months) for approval by the Corporation (as a condition of employment)
• Certification in First Aid and CPR Level C (upon commencing employment)
• The successful candidate will be required to attend various job related training periodically
• NOTE: Candidates may also be required to complete a practical skills evaluation as part of the interview process.
