Summary

The Township of Stone Mills is accepting applications for up to 18 Municipal Election Workers for the 2026 Municipal Election. The workers will be required to work at one of several voting locations on October 26, 2026, from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Positions Available

Managing Deputy Returning Officer (MDRO)
Duties include overall operation and management of a voting location, administering oaths, monitoring voting procedures, maintaining custody and control of ballots, operating vote tabulators, managing election staff, and ensuring successful transmission of results to Elections Headquarters.

Deputy Returning Officer (DRO)
Duties include ensuring staffing and supplies conform with procedures, assisting electors with accessibility needs, verifying elector identification, issuing ballots, maintaining custody of ballots and vote tabulators, and assisting MDRO with location setup and election day tasks.

Applicant Requirements

  • At least 18 years old on voting day, October 26, 2026
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Cannot be a candidate, related to candidates, campaigning, or endorsing candidates in this election
  • Must attend mandatory training session Wednesday, October 21, 2026, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Municipal Office in Centreville
  • Commit to working 12–14 hours on election day
  • Able to lift up to 30 lbs (up to 55 lbs for MDRO), and able to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Experience using computers and comfort with web-based software; must have strong computer and data entry skills for MDRO
  • Professional demeanor and ability to communicate courteously with electors
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle access required for MDRO
  • Must set aside personal political preferences and remain non-partisan
  • Must have a personal email address to receive correspondence

Training

Successful candidates will attend a mandatory one-day training session on October 21, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Municipal Office located in Centreville.
