Duties
Reports to Manager of Fleet Operations.
Coordinates work of other mechanics.
Inspects, diagnoses, repairs and services mechanical, electrical and electronic systems and components of City of Stratford vehicles and equipment.
Work Performed:
- Creates workorders and enters into system when completed and provides input on fleet requirements and specifications.
- Diagnoses mechanical, electrical, electronic and hydraulic faults on Public Works and other municipal fleet vehicles and equipment. Checks vehicles and equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
- Diagnoses faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required.
- Adjusts equipment, repairs or replaces defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools.
- Tests repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications.
- Performs annual inspections and scheduled maintenance service, such as cleaning, oil changes, lubrications and tune ups.
- Services attachments and working tools such as blades and ploughs.
- Prepares and maintains written work records such as parts lists and inspections sheets.
- Moves equipment and vehicles in and out of work area.
- Assists and maintains a safe work environment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Secondary School Diploma together with a valid Ontario Truck and Coach Technician Certification (310T and 310S)
- Minimum three (3) years related professional experience.
- Valid Driver's License (Class DZ)
Specialized Skills, Abilities, Training, License, Memberships, or Certifications
- Required to work in a team environment, according to a designated schedule
