Position Summary
The Manager of Marine Services is responsible for the overall operation of the Frontenac Howe Island Ferry. The Manager will provide strong leadership, innovation and high quality customer service and participate in strategic business planning for Marine Services. The Manager will be highly visible in the community, leading by example and demonstrating the highest ethical standards. The Manager will carry out the duties in alignment with the organization’s mission, vision and values, and work to further its priorities.
Education and Experience
- Diploma in Business Management or equivalent program
- Department of Transport Certificate, Master of Ferry Steamship, Radio Telephone restricted license, an asset
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in supervision of staff in a unionized environment
- Experience in Ferry operations, an asset
- A relevant combination of education and experience may be considered

- Demonstrated knowledge of all legislation and regulations pertinent to the role as well as an understanding of policies and legislation affecting municipal government, that impact functioning in the role
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal and ability to communicate complex information to a diverse audience base; fosters open communication
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely with ease and confidence in a professional, consistent and positive manner
- Demonstrated respect for individual differences and competencies

- Must hold a valid Class G drivers license
- Satisfactory Criminal Reference and Judicial Matters Check

Working Conditions

- Periods of time sitting in meetings, viewing a computer monitor and keyboarding
- Intermediate level of concentration is required to analyze and interpret data and information and prepare reports
- Multi-tasking environment and necessity to meet deadlines on a regular basis
