Lifeguard/Instructor

• Shifts: 4*2 up to 30 hours/week

Primary Duties and Accountabilities

• Enforce rules, regulations and policies.
• Knowledge and understanding of emergency procedures and proper use of emergency equipment.
• Perform First Aid as required.
• Monitor instructional and recreational swimming activities.
• Patrol pool deck and scan the water to ensure a safe swim environment.
• Respond to inquiries, resolve problems, and perform associated public education duties.
• Set up the pool deck.
• Provide detailed lesson plan for each class.
• Write, proof and correct report cards for lesson participants.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
• Instruct assigned Red Cross Swim programs to standard.

Qualifications

• One year previous experience as a lifeguard and/or teaching swimming lessons, preferred.
• Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or Lifesaving Society Instructor.
• Standard First Aid with CPR Level C (Lifesaving Society, St. John Ambulance, Canadian Red Cross, or Canadian Ski Patrol).
• National Lifeguard Certification.
• Positive attitude and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to keep organized in a fast paced environment.
• Attention to cleanliness and safety.
