The Township of Stone Mills is presently accepting applications for Casual/Part-Time - Landfill Attendant.

Reporting to the Public Works Manager, this position is responsible for ensuring that all waste brought to the waste site is disposed of in compliance with Township policies and in a safe and efficient manner. This position will interact closely with patrons of the landfill, including occasionally assisting patrons as needed.

The successful candidate must have a minimum Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent. Must possess or acquire working knowledge of recyclable materials and hazardous waste with sound knowledge and understanding of occupational health and safety procedures. A valid and clean Ontario class G Driver’s Licence is mandatory. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position while working in extreme weather conditions.

Township of Stone Mills currently operates three Waste Disposal Sites:

• Camden Landfill Site - 3087 County Rd 4
• Moscow Landfill Site - 4965 County Rd 6
• Tamworth Landfill Site - 1661 County Rd 15

The Waste Disposal Sites operate Wednesdays 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Hours are subject to change.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Strong personal and communication skills
• Work well independently and with little supervision
• Punctuality and dependability
• Own Transportation
• Flexibility to travel between landfills
• Ability to lift up to 25 kg
• Strong customer service orientation

The Casual/Part-Time position will offer a maximum of 15 hours per week with an hourly wage of $20.24 plus 4% in lieu of vacation pay. All other terms of employment will be in accordance with the Township of Stone Mills Human Resource Policy and the Employment Standards Act. Appropriate training will be provided.
