About This Role

The Region of Durham is recruiting for Temporary Full-Time Labourer positions within Maintenance Operations. The incumbent will assist in the repair, inspections and maintenance of water, sewer and road systems, and operate vehicles to perform winter maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the repair, inspections and maintenance of water, sewer and road systems
• Operate tandem and single axel vehicles to perform winter maintenance activities
• Perform shift, standby duty and overtime work and respond quickly to calls
• Maintain neat and accurate records
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

• Grade 12 diploma
• Valid Ontario Class 'D' Licence with 'Z' endorsement
• Previous experience working with installation, maintenance and repair procedures for roads, water and sewer systems, including winter maintenance activities
• Ability to maintain neat and accurate records
• Ability to deal effectively with the public and work cooperatively with co-workers
• Capable of heavy lifting, bending and twisting
• Commitment to treating all clients and colleagues with dignity, respect, and cultural sensitivity
