The City of Temiskaming Shores is seeking a motivated, independent, and organized Human Resources Coordinator to provide important HR support to the Corporate Services department.

What You’ll Do
The Human Resources Coordinator will be responsible for a wide range of day-to-day transactional human resources activities and administrative functions for the City.
A key responsibility of the position is the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all City employees, Council members, volunteer firefighters, and board members. The HR Coordinator will also provide ongoing administrative support and ensure employee records are accurate, complete, and maintained in accordance with applicable legislation and City policies.
The HR Coordinator serves as an important resource for employees and management, providing support related to human resources policies, procedures, benefits, and other employment matters. The position also assists with recruitment and onboarding activities and is responsible for the administration of the City's Health and Safety Program.
Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll accurately and on a timely basis for all City employees, Council members, volunteer firefighters, and board members.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel records and human resources files.
- Process and maintain employee information related to pension, benefits, payroll, and other employment records.
- Provide support for recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes.
- Respond to employee inquiries and provide information regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, and related matters.
- Assist with the administration and ongoing maintenance of the City's Health and Safety Program.
- Maintain HR systems and databases and ensure information is accurate and current.
- Support compliance with applicable employment legislation, policies, procedures, and HR best practices.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with a high degree of tact, professionalism, and discretion.
- Perform any other duties as needed and requested by the managing Director.
Required Qualifications
- A college diploma or university degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario employment legislation and current human resources best practices.
- Experience working with human resources systems, databases, and computerized records.
- Experience handling confidential business and employee information with tact, discretion, and professionalism.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and manage competing demands effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees, management, Council members, external partners, and other stakeholders.
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Bilingualism is considered an asset.
- The preferred candidate will be a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) with a membership in good standing with the professional association.
