Position Summary
Perform mechanical repairs to all City equipment.
Responsible For
- Performs mechanical and electrical repairs to all City small and large vehicles and equipment.
- Diagnosing and repairing computerized systems.
- Maintain a Mechanic’s daily repair log, along with electronic work orders.
- Perform safety inspections.
- Road test repaired equipment.
- Provide “road service” when required.
- Order parts and pick up when necessary, as approved by Supervisor.
- Will perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organized workstation.
- Must have own tools applicable to position.
Position Requirements
- Minimum is a high school diploma.
- Minimum 310T or 310S Certificate (Garage Mechanic I).
- Minimum 310T and 310S Certificate (Garage Mechanic II).
- Natural Gas and Propane Certificates would be an asset.
- Class “D” license with “Z” endorsement is required.
- Experience repairing heavy equipment is an asset.
Working Conditions
Fleet garage and outdoors.
Equipment and Tools Used
Mechanics tools, electronic scanners, diagnosing laptop, hoist, boom, torches, testing equipment, power tools.
Notes about Rates of Pay
- Garage Mechanic I - $38.57 to $40.02 per hour
- Garage Mechanic II - $40.75 - $42.17 per hour
- EVT 1&2, EVT 3&4 - $0.25 per hour premium per certification set
