The Township of St. Clair is seeking a motivated individual for a permanent full-time Engineering Technologist position within the Public Works / Engineering Department. Working under the direction of the Coordinator of Engineering, this position is responsible for supporting the design and review, approval and inspection of development and capital works related to subdivision, highway, pipeline and utility construction.

The scope of work will also require that the Engineering Technologist support industrial development and planning applications. Additional responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, some of the following:

• Operating the CAD system and preparing technical documents
• Preliminary field surveys and field inspections
• Ensuring contractor adherence to regulations and municipal policy
• Maintenance of technical records
• Supporting technical studies
• Performing miscellaneous assignments as directed

Education and Qualifications

• Post-secondary diploma from a recognized college in the Engineering Technology field (3-year program) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Must have, or be willing to obtain, a Class 1 Water Distribution System Operator License with course knowledge related to road, sewer and watermain inspection, and design courses
• Must be a member, or remain eligible to become a member, of the OACETT (Certified Engineering Technician, preferably Civil)
• Experience related to infrastructure management, modeling, CAD, word processing, spreadsheet and database is required
