The Role
Supports the Emergency Management team within Human Resources. Applies expert technological skills to support business continuity and emergency management data analysis. Supports the emergency management public education and training programs.
Duties Responsibilities
- Technology integration using Microsoft Office Suite and other systems to enhance communication, data collection and analysis within the business continuity framework.
- Assists in the review, extrapolation, and analysis of business continuity assessment data for all Regional divisions.
- Data analysis to provide critical listing reports related to people, places, and technological priorities.
- Creates training and awareness materials and documentation related to business continuity data analysis.
- Documentation and reporting, maintaining accurate records of technological processes, incidents, and outcomes contributing to post-event analysis and continuous improvement.
- Contributes technological expertise and data use to program planning and team readiness for emergency situations.
- Participates in collaborative meetings with Regional divisions to review and validate business continuity assessment data analysis.
- Supports the emergency management public education program and training development, including community messaging and adult learning engagement.
- Participation in team meetings including scheduling, arranging catering, preparing agendas and minutes.
- Undertakes projects and participates on project teams related to initiatives, as directed.
- Travels for meetings as needed.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills And Abilities
- Currently enrolled in college, university, or master's program in engineering, information technology, business, finance, computer science, project management, emergency or business continuity management, or other relevant program.
- Technical proficiency and understanding of systems, tools, and technology.
- Strong presentation and analytical skills.
- Problem solving and solutions driven with innovative mindset to improve business continuity and emergency management processes.
- Skill using Excel and reporting/data software such as PowerBI to build analysis.
- Understanding of business continuity planning to support organizational resilience.
- Knowledge and ability to comply with policies, procedures and related legislation.
- Collaboration and relationship building skills with effective team member ability.
- Communication, interpersonal, and customer service experience.
- Organizational skills with multi-tasking ability.
- Time management and attention to detail skills.
- Ability to exhibit confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive materials.
- Ability to follow instructions and understand policies, procedures, forms and documents.
Additional Knowledge Skills And Abilities
- Must be registered as a full-time secondary or post-secondary student, or recognized as full-time by academic institution but applying for school vacation, practicum or work term, or returning to full-time studies next term.
- Students in final year not returning to full-time studies eligible up to convocation.
- Students in education or retraining programs at post-secondary level eligible for related employment.
Work Environment
This role will work in a hybrid working environment model with three days in office and two days remote working. Ability to travel within Waterloo Region.
