• Pay Range: $17.95 to $ 20 per hour
• Work Hours: Monday, October 26, 2026, approximately 7 am to 9 pm (hours vary by position)
• Work Location: Various locations throughout Wilmot Township

General Purpose

The Township of Wilmot is seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to serve as Election Officials for the 2026 Municipal Election.

We are currently recruiting for the following positions:

• Ballot Box Manager
• Deputy Returning Officer (DRO)
• Greeter
• Kiosk Election Assistant

Responsibilities

Responsibilities vary by position and may include:

• Greeting and directing voters
• Processing electors and issuing ballots
• Assisting voters with voting equipment and electronic voting kiosks
• Operating voting equipment and completing election documentation
• Securing ballots and maintaining the integrity of election materials
• Providing courteous, professional and impartial customer service
• Following election procedures established by the Municipal Clerk
• Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Be at least 16 years of age by Election Day
• Be legally eligible to work in Canada
• Be available for mandatory training and Election Day
• Be comfortable using computers and other technology
• Demonstrate strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
• Be able to follow detailed procedures accurately and impartially
• Be able to provide professional customer service in a fast-paced environment
• Have reliable transportation to the assigned voting location
• Have regular access to email, as it will be the Township's primary method of communication throughout the recruitment process

Note

Election Officials are appointed by the Municipal Clerk under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996. Successful applicants must complete mandatory training and meet all eligibility requirements before appointment. Candidates, Registered Third Parties, and individuals actively working on a campaign for a candidate or Registered Third Party in the Township of Wilmot municipal election are not eligible for appointment.
