The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership (SLEP) is the lead economic development agency for Lambton County. Funded by the County of Lambton, they focus on promoting the distinct advantages that Sarnia-Lambton proudly offers companies and residents. Through coordination of community-based economic development initiatives and maintaining a commercially attractive environment, they foster new business creation, help established firms grow, and attract growing businesses and industry to the region. The office is located in the City of Sarnia at the Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park and covers eleven municipalities and three First Nations.

SLEP is recognized by the International Economic Development Council as an Accredited Economic Development Organization, one of only six in Canada to attain this distinction.

About This Opportunity
SLEP is seeking an Economic Development Officer (BRE) for a full-time contract term. This role focuses on business retention & expansion and rural engagement priorities by working directly with businesses, municipalities, and community partners across Lambton County to identify growth opportunities, challenges, workforce needs, and future plans. The insights collected will help inform economic development priorities and support services for local businesses.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead business engagement initiatives to identify growth priorities among local businesses.
  • Conduct business visits, interviews, and stakeholder engagement to gather intelligence supporting retention, expansion, investment, and job creation.
  • Analyze findings, prepare reports and recommendations, and connect businesses to programs, services, and resources.
  • Build and maintain relationships with business owners, municipalities, government agencies, industry stakeholders, and partners.
  • Conduct surveys, maintain CRM records, and track program metrics.
  • Develop and present a Business Retention & Expansion framework and implementation plan.
  • Represent SLEP in relevant alliances and committees.
  • Develop and implement business support events and materials in collaboration with marketing and partner EDOs.
  • Keep current with government legislation and funding programs and prepare related applications when required.
