Clearview Township is currently seeking one (1) permanent full-time (40 hours per week) DZ Driver to start immediately. This is a unionized position within the CUPE Bargaining Unit. The location of work varies based on the needs of the Township; however, the primary location of work is located at the Clearview Public Works Yard, 5833 County Road 96, Stayner, ON.

Key Accountabilities

  • Reporting to the Public Works Roads Supervisor, the Public Works Roads DZ Drivers are responsible for the operation of all works associated within a Public Works environment, including but not limited to inspecting and repairing roads infrastructure, equipment maintenance, snow removal, sanding, as well as clearing sidewalks and ensuring compliance with current Road Safety Standards.
  • The preferred candidate will also be required to participate in an on-call rotation from May through October and must be available to respond in accordance with the established schedule.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 12 Education with two (2) years of demonstrated experience operating heavy equipment, with a preference given to Grader, Rubber-Tired Backhoe, or Grad-All experience.
  • Valid DZ Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract; preference given to AZ Driver's License.
  • Current WHMIS training.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and precautions pertaining to the use of tools and safe work practices.
  • In addition to operating heavy equipment, must possess the ability to operate pickup trucks, utility trucks, pumps, compressors, generators, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, two-way radios, and phones.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to understand, read, and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labour, including bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting heavy objects.
  • Physical strength and ability sufficient to meet job requirements for extended periods under uncomfortable conditions in all types of weather.
  • In case of urgent call-ins, must be able to respond to the workplace within 30 minutes.
  • Note: The preferred candidate must be willing to provide consent for the Township to conduct a Criminal Record Check prior to finalizing an employment offer.
