About the Role
The Elgin County Archives has an exciting contract position to digitize and publish local newspapers and historical records pertaining to the County of Elgin. The project is made possible due to the financial support of the Blidner Family Foundation and entails the following:
Your responsibilities include
- Digitization, quality control and on-line posting of local newspapers, photographs and documents
- Promotion/marketing/outreach activities
- Basic preservation activities
Qualifications
- Completed or be in the process of completing post-secondary education in a field related to history, communications or graphic design.
- Strong technical skills and previous experience with digitization, online publication and website design are essential.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of local history is an asset.
- Familiarity with archival practice is an asset.
