We prioritize workplace well-being, continuous growth, and a culture where every employee feels valued and inspired.

The John M. Parrott Centre is a fully accredited state-of-the-art, 168-bed long-term care home located in the Town of Greater Napanee. What You Will Do

Reporting to the Food Service Supervisor, you will play a vital role in supporting our mission to enhance the well-being of the individuals and communities we serve. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare menu items following recipes, menus, therapeutic diets, production sheets, and departmental procedures.
  • Operate commercial equipment safely.
  • Portion food requirements for each RHA, rotate stock, and plan the utilization of leftover foods.
  • Follow all Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and sanitation practices to ensure food safety.
  • In the absence of the Manager/Supervisor, direct staff as needed and oversee and train dietary staff.
  • Portion and serve correct meals to residents and guests.
  • Set and clear tables and keep work areas, the dining room, and other departmental areas clean and sanitized.
  • Assist in the dishwashing process and prepare and set up daily nourishments.
  • Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all Public Health and Ministry of Health Dietary Compliance Standards.
  • Function effectively and contribute positively to the Dietary Services Team.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

What You Will Bring

We are looking for someone who shares our passion for helping people live their best lives and brings:

  • A current Safe Food Service Worker Certificate, and current enrollment in or enrollment within three months of the start date in a Food Service Worker Certificate Program at a college established under the Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology Act, 2002, or a Food Service Worker program provided by a Registered Private Career College and approved by the Superintendent of Private Career Colleges under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005.
  • Alternatively, preference will be given to applicants who have completed chef training or a culinary management diploma from a program that meets the standards established by the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities. Preference will be given to those who possess a Red Seal Designation.
  • A current Safe Food Handler Certificate.
  • A secondary school graduation diploma (preferred) or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Previous experience as a cook is required; experience as a food server in a dining room setting is an asset.
  • Experience operating large quantities of kitchen equipment safely.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds, stand, walk, and bend for the entire shift, as this is a very physically demanding job.
  • Understanding of the special needs of the senior population.
  • Patience and tact in daily tasks involving residents, guests, and staff.
  • Good physical health, a clean and neat appearance, and excellent personal hygiene.
  • Ability to give direction to other team members.
  • Satisfactory attendance record, subject to the requirements of the Ontario Human Rights Code.
