Position Overview

Assisting and supporting staff with architectural, technical and administrative services for Corporate Security and Facility Management Operations, including the preparation and updating of drawings, construction drawings, for existing or new buildings and proposed alterations/renovations. Supports database management and administration for all Corporate Security systems and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with creating or updating facility and site drawings in AutoCAD.
  • Assists with updating documentation and auditing of security systems, including but not limited to CCTV, Access control, burglar alarm, and keying systems.
  • Assists with preparing presentations using PowerPoint or other applications.
  • Assists with daily administration operations.
  • Assists with the coordination of project activities.
  • Assists with performing data/clerical entry.
  • Assists with the development and preparation of drawings and working drawings for proposed projects and systems utilizing AutoCAD equipment.
  • Meets with senior departmental staff to determine office needs, improve efficiency and accommodate the needs of staff.
  • Assists with providing in-depth technical assistance, research, and evaluation of options.
  • Assists with the research and analysis of new technologies related to job function.
  • Assists with performing analysis of the available data, as assigned.
  • Conducts field visits and collects asset and condition data.
  • Works with various City departments.
  • Attends meetings with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with colleagues, internal/external stakeholders.
  • Resolves inquiries or concerns promptly and efficiently.
  • Perform other Corporate Security work-related duties as assigned.
  • Performs other related tasks and projects as assigned, which are in accordance with job responsibilities or necessary department and corporate objectives.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Ontario Health and Safety Act and Regulations and the Corporate Health and Safety policy and related procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians Disability Act (AODA) and related policy and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Enrolled in a University or College program, or a recent graduate, with a focus on AutoCAD User Program and/or a minor in Law Enforcement or Police Foundations.
  • Must be a proficient user of AutoCAD should have an understanding of 3D modeling, layering techniques, construction documentation, drawing set-up, and plotting functions.
  • Must have well developed computer skills. Computer literate and proficient in MS Windows Outlook, Word, Excel, PeopleSoft etc. Willingness to learn other specialized computer software applications and techniques as required.
  • Experience conducting research and analyzing/interpreting data.
  • Must have good organizational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated effective communications, including effective report writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to self-manage and identify issues, challenges and opportunities and propose solutions.
  • Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public, staff, members of Council, contractors, consultants, government agencies, and others.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and procedures.
  • Must be highly motivated and able to take direction.
  • Ability to work under time constraints and to meet deadlines.
  • Exposure to GIS concepts will be considered an asset.
  • Exposures to Security Systems, including CCTV, access control and keying systems will be considered an asset.
  • Must have a Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's license
