About the Position

Reporting to the Senior Supervisor of Public Works, the Casual Labourer assists with the day-to-day duties of Public Works. This could include any of the Roads, Water, or Sewer Divisions. This is a temporary contract position scheduled to work 40 hours a week.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform various maintenance duties including grass cutting, digging, traffic control water/sewer labourer, garbage pickup, sidewalk trip grinding.
  • Keep all assigned equipment in good condition and ensure that all fuel and oil levels are maintained at an acceptable level.
  • Perform various types of heavy labour, in all weather conditions, for extended periods.
  • Operate hand tools including rakes, shovels, saws sidewalk trip grinders.
  • All other duties as assigned.

What you need to Succeed

  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in construction, landscape, or facility maintenance.
  • A valid Class “D” Ontario Driver’s License with “Z” endorsement.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff and general public.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, and with limited supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
