Role Summary

The Township of Centre Wellington’s Community Services Department is now accepting applications for the temporary part time positions of Assistant Instructor Guards, Swim Instructors, Lifeguards, and Aquafit Instructors at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex.

Candidates without all of the required certifications are welcome to apply and positions may be offered based on the successful completion of required courses provided by the Township.

Positions

  • Assistant Instructor Guard (AIG): Assist the instructor during programs, perform minor first aid, assist in emergencies, and maintain positive representation of the Township.
  • Swim Instructor: Instruct classes as per Lifesaving Society standards, meet Township expectations, and maintain a positive Township representation.
  • Lifeguard: Maintain and enforce safety standards, assume guard responsibilities as required, and represent the Township positively.
  • Aquafit Instructor: Instruct classes according to WaterArt, CALA standards and Township expectations, positively represent the Township.

Qualifications

  • Assistant Instructor Guard: Lifesaving Society Assistant Instructor certification and Bronze Cross minimum.
  • Swim Instructor: National Lifeguard or Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor certification, Standard First Aid, CPR “C” current within 2 years.
  • Lifeguard: National Lifeguard, Standard First Aid, CPR “C” current within 2 years.
  • Aquafit Instructor: Aquafit Certification from a nationally recognized provider (WaterArt, CALA, YMCA) current within 2 years.
  • Experience and additional certifications will be considered.
  • Applicants must include photocopies of all required certifications.
